Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) captures high-resolution images of vehicle plates and “decodes“ the image into an alph-numeric ASCII data file that shows the country, state, region, county, municipality and individual vehicle registration information. Highly accurate ALPR results require two crucial components:
- Superior images — our system has a variety of specialized camera and LED lighting options that ensure great images in all weather and lighting conditions.
- Analytic software to decode the images into usable data — the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software engine is fast and accurate. The OCR engine is “tuned” to meet the unique attributes in each country or region.
Multiple database management and storage options allow vehicles to be tracked in and out of a defined area allowing security personnel to know where every vehicle is at all times. Secure TCP-IP interfaces automatically link to law enforcement reporting systems so that stolen vehicles, stolen plates, or vehicles of interest are automatically flagged on the operator terminal, alerting the operator to take special precautions.
System Integration and Additional Capabilities
ALPR is directly integrated into the Automatic Under Vehicle Inspection System (AUVIS) – license plate
information is integrated with AUVIS under carriage scanning results and presented together on the operator terminal. An ALPR-SDK/API is available for easy integration with other security technologies and PSIM platforms.
